Feng Shui - Why you need to follow It in these 5 Simple Ways

feng shui
/ˌfʌŋ ˈʃweɪ,ˌfɛŋ ˈʃuːi/ - noun

the ancient Chinese practice that charts the balance of energy, via scientific calculations. The goal of feng shui is to invite positive energy into your home so that your life feels both energized and balanced, and it’s a relatively simple way to improve the vibes of your space.

Quite a mouthful right. Well, whether you believe in it or not (and it is very real in our experience) take in some of these quick tips on how to optimise your home for positive energy. What's the worst that can happen aligning with thousand year old  tried and tested philosophies? 💡

Keep things clean

Having too much clutter around and mess is  probably not going to do your mental clarity any favors, let alone your interior design scheme. In feng shui, mess is said to take up the space you need for energy to flow (sounds woo-woo,  we know, but de-cluttering is something that works in your favour for many reasons).

Not only will it make you feel less stressed out, but it’ll also create a sense of order in such chaotic times. Plus, you’ll get a clean start each day, which should benefit your productivity, which can snowball in to better output or creativity in other areas of your life. Move those boxes and let that natural Vitamin D in to the room!

Remove Obstacles

Are the most frequent routes in your home—say, from the bedroom to the bathroom—free from tripping hazards? Is there an end table you bump into every day? Think about how you move through your space and try to make the paths as clear as possible. If this inspires a major rearrange, you probably needed it. Efficiency is everything in feng shui, so it’s important to clear obstacles from your path and make your flow as easy as possible.

Add Plants

They say that plants embody life energy, so they’ll add freshness and vitality to your home. And help with air circulation and also give you something to care for in the home, that feeling of caring and effort carries over in to other aspects of your home and life. Not to mention, it's quite the nifty piece of decor, a great way to bring a room together!

Maximise Natural Light

It should come as no surprise that natural light can make us feel happier and more positive. Using mirrors is a great little life hack here, when you hang a mirror, make sure it reflects more light, a serene view, or an expansive part of the room. This will maximise light in even the dimmer rooms, not all of us have skylights you know.

Add Some Art

Wall art is a great way to not only add something different, but to maintain energy in one place. The point of feng shui is to keep energy flowing, adding some stillness in to the room for people to observe and admire, creates positive energy in abundance! Plus, it can be a daily reminder of something you love, so why not?

Implement these tips in to your home and report back after a month, track your happiness, productivity and energy, we promise you'll see a difference. It is crazy to think that such minor enhancements to your environment can change your life, but it is a true compounding effect.

Until next time, peace and prosperity! 💡
